Domestic Assault and Domestic Disorderly Conduct Dismissed in Rhode Island

Our client was charged with Domestic Assault and Domestic Disorderly in Rhode Island, both of which are classified as misdemeanors. These charges carried the potential for serious consequences, including criminal convictions, mandatory participation in batterer’s intervention classes, significant monetary assessments and potential jail. 

We immediately began working closely with our client to understand the charges and develop a strategy. Our attorneys then engaged in discussions with the prosecutor to figure out the next steps and explore all possible avenues for resolving the case favorably. We were able to present compelling arguments and highlight mitigating factors while having a conversation with the prosecutor. 

Eventually, the prosecutor agreed to dismiss the charges against our client. This spared our client from long-term ramification that accompanies a criminal conviction while also avoiding the mandatory penalties associated with a domestic charge. We then made sure the charges were sealed to help preserve their criminal record.
