Mobile Telephone Usage by Motor Vehicle Operators Dismissed in Rhode Island

May, 2024

Our client was charged with using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle in Rhode Island. RIGL 31-22-31 states “no person shall operate a motor vehicle while using a hand-held personal wireless communication device to engage in a call while such vehicle is in motion.” Using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle is a traffic violation that can result in a $100 fine.

Our attorneys got to work right away requesting discovery and reviewing it. They then engaged in strategic negotiations with the prosecutor, arguing in our clients favor.

Thanks to our effort, the prosecutor then agreed to dismiss the charge against our client.
