Stopping on traveled portion of open highway dismissed in Rhode Island

June, 2024

Our client was charged with stopping on the traveled portion of an open highway in Rhode Island. This is a violation of RI General Laws 31-21-1 and is a serious traffic offense that can carry significant fines.

Our team immediately began working for our client by requesting discovery materials. We then thoroughly reviewed the materials in order to prepare for our client’s court appearance. We attended the court hearing, and used all useful information from the discovery to begin discussions with the prosecutor regarding the charge.

We set the case for trial, but we continued to present mitigating evidence before the day of trial, which ultimately ended in our team successfully securing the dismissal of the charge for our client.
